About Me

With all those pictures of me on this web page, you’d be surprised to learn I hate photos of myself. However, I want you to get a visual of me, the person writing all this, and there’s only one semi-good way to do so.

To colour the image you’ll get of me beyond my outside, I feel obliged to tell you a little bit about myself. This way you’ll end up with an idea of who I am on the inside as well as what I look like on the outside. After all, don’t judge a book by its cover (or a person by her badly taken photos).

I believe by reading someone’s writings you’ll get a clear image of their inner being – you can’t fake the way you write. At least this is what I hope to achieve when you read my posts: to take you on a journey inside my head.

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars

Oscar Wilde

However, to start you off here’s my personal playlist. I love making playlists for people, as it gives me the opportunity to find just the right songs to go with someone’s character. When burning my own favourites on a CD to play in my car, I went all out.

Please enjoy these songs (clicking on the titles will take you to their YouTube videos). I hope you’ll see the diversity in this collection. And if you think their combination on a CD is a bit hard to follow: don’t worry.

So am I.

  1. Billy Ocean – Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car
  2. Mika – Ice Cream
  3. Fall Out Boy – Jet Pack Blues
  4. Mandisa – Unfinished
  5. Bon Jovi – You Give Love A Bad Name
  6. Meghan Trainor – Better When I’m Dancing
  7. Cascada – Evacuate The Dancefloor
  8. Robyn – Dancing On My Own
  9. Ed Sheeran – Castle On The Hill
  10. Britney Spears – If I’m Dancing
  11. Zedd ft. Bahari – Addicted To A Memory (of course this one HAD to be on it!)
  12. LeAnn Rimes – Life Goes On
  13. Fleur East – Sax
  14. Mika – It’s My House
  15. Tori Kelly – Colors Of The Wind (love her voice!)
  16. Whitney Houston – I Wanna Dance With Somebody (this was a mistake – I love the song, but I love The Greatest by Sia more)
  17. Kensington – War
  18. Fall Out Boy – Twin Skeleton’s (Hotel In NYC)
  19. Mika – Live Your Life (best song ever, apart from #11)
  20. Bon Jovi – Livin’ On A Prayer
  21. Polina Gagarina – A Million Voices

  1. I’d like to take your offer to have a music playlist based on my own character that you see through my words on my own blog. You don’t have to do it right away or at all. I love music and usually I try to find my own meanings through lyrics and the rhythm that plays to my soul. Btw, I have rarely been impressed by someone’s picture like yours and I actually did feature that on my own blog at; https://aatayyab.wordpress.com/2020/05/15/an-unforgettable-beautiful-face/

You don’t post that often on your blog but whenever you do, its really worthy of a read. I hope you post more often about your life and feelings.

Love you and stay beautiful 🙂

    1. I have never made a playlist for someone I don’t know personally, to be honest. Usually it’s family or friends, people I’ve known for a while and know what they like. I am not saying I won’t give it a try, but it won’t be anytime soon. At the moment I am too busy being stressed, but I’ll keep this in mind. I do love a challenge 🙂

    1. Thank you, Mohitjain. I am not sure what you mean with connecting somewhere else, but I am always happy to make new friends on WordPress 🙂

            1. I see your request for personal contact with me. It makes me feel a little uneasy, because I don’t want to hurt your feelings, but I don’t want to share my personal contact info with anyone who asks for it, either. I need to know I can trust you, so I would rather, slowly, get to know you a little bit through this platform first 🙂

  2. Nice new ‘about’! As for photo – I’m not a great fan of mine either, but I try to remember that it always seems a bit disorienting when one never gets to see what the blogger looks like — somehow I get to thinking that if they don’t show themselves at all, then something must be wrong lol

    1. I agree with your thoughts. I think it’s important people get a peep of the person behind the blog, it makes it all more… authentic maybe. As for photos of me: I’ve never really liked staring at myself, for some reason. That’s not going to change any time soon, haha.

    2. I get the same first impression of “anonymous” people’s blog as “wrong” but later I do change my opinion as only they or their maker knows why did they choose to hide their beautiful selves. Actually it is an intriguing topic about which I wrote in detail at; https://aatayyab.wordpress.com/2018/10/25/anonymity-pisses-me-off/

I’d love to know more about the reasons that come to your mind about why do such people decide to obscure themselves?

    1. 80% of the Dutch folks don’t know about this, either. I used to use The Netherlands and Holland as synonyms, too. Oh well. I reckon someone one day thought: this country is too small to be of any meaning, let’s just make it a super complicated nation for everyone and see what happens globally.

        1. Pffft, that’s nothing. What REALLY bothers me is the lack of mountains! 😦 For someone who loves mountains and especially mountain views living in a country where the closest thing to a mountain is a speed bump is torture.

          Like

          1. I used to live in South Dakota where speed bumps weren’t even a thing. But if you follow me on Instagram I take lots of photos of mountains that are really nearby, so you can either enjoy them or be bitter that you don’t have them.

  6. Samantha,

I wanted to thank you for taking the time to like my Bay Art essay on writing first person rather than a self-help perspective. I don’t publish much on Bay Art and it is especially gratifying to reach new readers.

I’m looking forward to reading your thoughts as well. .

    Best,

    1. Hi Jon,
I liked your honesty in that article. You shouldn’t have to change the way you write because others want a different thing. If you write to make a living, sure that’s something you need to take into great account, but not when you write for you.
Thank you for finding me here and commenting. It means a lot! I wish you and your family Happy Holidays and a good 2017! 🙂

My own heart beat doesn’t scare me that much any more… Somehow it soothes me, knowing it’s mine. I know, I am strange. Don’t even go there, we could talk all night about my peculiarities :’)

    1. Thanks, Marcus! In fact, I did hear the call of God, until I got home from a trip to China, I’m afraid. Now I’m searching for what I really believe in.

  12. Once I was dating a mad and fascinating artist, and we stopped to study a painting in a gallery, when she whispered provocatively in my ear: “Are you ever tempted to lick the paintings?” You remind me a little of her 🙂 And don’t fool yourself; you take GREAT pictures!

Btw, I love your profile picture! I recently finished reading a (very bad) version of The Iliad and I *think* I saw that sculpture live once. It’s Laocoön, right?
